A woman from Birmingham’s Acocks Green region has been taken behind bars over suspected child neglect charges after a young boy was discovered dead inside a caravan, said the West Midlands police.
The police as well as the emergency services were informed on early Thursday about an unconscious child found in a caravan at a Blossomville Way property. The boy was immediately rushed to a hospital, however, the doctors there pronounced him dead, said reports. The death of the child remains unexplained and an autopsy still remains to be performed.
The woman taken under custody is the mother of the deceased 10 year-old child, confirmed the police.
According to Det Inspector Joe Davenport, the situation suggests that the child was suffering from certain underlying health problems and was recently admitted to a hospital/
An inquiry has been launched into the matter to better understand what exactly happened in the previous few days which led to his sudden death and also to determine whether any specific factors contributed to the death, Davenport added.
As per a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman, they received a medical emergency call at an address on Blossomville way early Thursday morning. Upon arrival, they saw a boy in a critical health condition and administered specialist trauma care at the spot before transporting him to a hospital. However, despite of the efforts of the doctors there, the boy couldn’t be saved.
